UNI Global Union thanks all members for their participation in the work of the organisation in 2009 and wishes them a Happy New Year!



In 2010, UNI will be “Breaking Through” to support peace, organising, the fight for justice for workers and human and trade union rights and to ensure that all of its work leads to concrete results for its 20 million members.



The financial crisis has wreaked havoc on the world’s working people as many have lost their jobs, their savings and their homes. We have to build a new global economy that is sustainable and based on values of solidarity and social responsibility and not the greed that brought the world financial system to the wall. Now more than ever we need to join together to demand our rights and the rights of our fellow workers. We will keep building the path towards equal opportunities for all people.



We will build relationships and build our power in the New Year to improve working conditions in a global jobs market characterised by precarious work and inequality. We will devote our energy and resources to organising in the services sector.



We look forward to breaking through with you in 2010. This new year will mark UNI’s 10^th anniversary and we are very excited to celebrate with you at our World Congress in Nagasaki in November.





The UNI head office in Nyon will be closed from the 18th of December to the 4th January.
