With the support of the European Commission and a mandate from the European trade union federation UNI Europa, the European project for the training of members of European Works Councils (EWCs) and managers responsible for employment relations was launched on 13th January 2010. "REDITER" stands for "Recast European Directive: Training for EWCs representatives"
The partners of the REDITER project* met on January 13th in Paris at the offices of ASTREES, which is piloting the project, to prepare five European seminars throughout 2010. The seminars will take place from May to November across five European countries – Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain and Romania.
The European seminars will allow the social partners from within a range of companies to better understand the Recast EWC Directive as well as promoting exchanges between EWC members and HR managers to improve the quality of information and consultation during restructuring at the European level and to better prepare EWC representatives for undertaking their role.
The majority of the 20 participants in each seminar will be selected from the host country with additional attendees invited from the other countries represented in the project. Each seminar will develop a thematic approach around the problem of restructuring and will last for two days.
(*) The project is managed under the auspices of the French association ASTREES, with several supporting partner organisations – ADAPT (Great Britain), euro-betriebsrat.de (Germany), Human and Employment Relations Agency (France), Labour Associados (Spain) and Land (Romania).
