The Marina Bay Sands is the world's second-most expensive casino-resort. It became the second casino operating in Singapore after Genting's Resorts World Sentosa which was opened in February.



The casino was built by US gaming giant Las Vegas Sands. It is their first casino in Asia outside Macao.



Marina Bay Sands got the license to operate just a day before its opening. The government of the country had forbade casinos for years. Hundreds of curious Singaporeans went to see the new place but not all of them were ready to pay for entering the casino. To prevent the locals from gambling addiction, the government has decided to impose 100 Singaporean dollars fee for a one-day entry to the casino.
