The Nordic Graphical Unions during their recent meeting met with the Head of Department Steve Walsh and discussed a range of issues including how to ensure that the graphical industry remains relevant and how graphical unions are able to respond to the challenges that members are facing.



One of the key roles for UNI Graphical is assisting unions to organize and campaign particularly in the multi national companies. The Nordic group of Graphical unions are continuing to face the problem of jobs disappearing to other parts of Europe and overseas on the basis of cheaper labour costs, this is undermining the living standards of the Nordic countries.



The development of strong independent trade unions is essential to ensuring that workers in all these multi-national companies are treated fairly and equitably.



The importance of being effective, focusing on the key issues and ensuring that results are achieved were all discussed at length during the meeting.
