The main celebration ceremony was carried out on August 10^th at the Cafam La Floresta Convention Centre, in Bogota. The meeting was honoured by public national figures, leaders of the other three union centrals, congressmen and women, leaders of political parties, representatives of the entrepreneurial sector and international organisations like the ILO, among others. Our colleague Leonor Sierra Acosta, who delivered an emotive congratulation greeting for the President of CTC colleague Luis Miguel Morantes Alfonso on behalf of the Regional Secretary Raul Requena, represented UNI Americas in this historic celebration.

The commemorative events of the CTC were developed in the framework of two academic panels, one on the history of the ILO and in Colombian and labour international standards, and the other on the history of the labour movement and the landmarks set by the CTC in this respect. One of the most tragic events recalled at this opportunity was the kidnapping and murder of its president José Raquel Mercado, on February 15^th, 1976 by the M-19.



The cycle of academic events was completed by two conferences on the historic evolution of labour jurisprudence, and a perspective of the future of Colombian unionism.
