PAM, Service Union United, Finland--COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT IN THE SECURITY SECTOR



The negotiations involved changes to the binding collective agreement covering the entire security sector in Finland.



The contract settlement included agreement on issues related to working time, wage systems and occupational accidents occurring in conjunction with situations involving violence. The obligation for wage payment for up to three months, regardless of the duration of employment, which is unique in Finland.



WORKING TIME PACKAGE



- The opportunity to utilise a working hours adjustment system (240 hours)



- Shortening of working time



- The opportunity to implement a working time bank



- Compensation for shifts beginning and ending between midnight and 6 am



- Weekly time off—a limit on the number of consecutive work shifts between days off to a maximum of nine, unless otherwise agreed locally.



WAGE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT—Generally clarifying, modernising and improving the system



SOCIAL REGULATIONS—Medical examinations: Paid time for work-related health examinations, including compensation as business travel.



The negotiations were accelerated by walk-outs at workplaces, to which Securitas Oy in particular reacted inappropriately by, for example, threatening and encouraging employees to leave the union. For this reason, Securitas Oy was the first target of strike threats. If the strike had begun, as was scheduled for March 2. The second phase would have affected other companies in the sector.
