“These new guidelines will help us improve conditions for workers in the global workforce. Not only do they say that companies are responsible for protecting human rights, labour rights and environmental standards in their own facilities but they also hold them responsible for practices in the companies they work with,” said UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings. “This is a break through for workers.”



The Trade Union Advisory Committee for the OECD (TUAC) also welcomed the new guidelines and called for more resources to ensure proper implementation.

The 32 OECD countries plus Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Peru and Romania have signed up to the guidelines.
