Under the heading of training and skills the Committee discussed the European Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO) Taxonomy, which aims to provide multilingual, structured terminology for classification. The system is based on the ISCO and the EURES systems, and will, when published, act as a link between national classification systems in different countries. The first reference groups are being set up for three pilot sectors and for all other sectors, live performance included, the reference groups will be set up in approximately two to three years. The reference groups will provide the system with detailed information of their specific sector.





The Committee has been working on risk assessment, and related to that work OSHA, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, gave a presentation about their new campaign “Better health and safety at work through prevention”. The focus of the campaign is on prevention and managing risks, and in this leadership by management and involving workers are key issues. The campaign will be implemented through national focal points in the Member States and organisations across Europe are welcome to participate. The official launch of the campaign will take place on 18 April 2012.
