The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) also mobilised trade union centres around the world to take part in the embassy visits.



The visits are part of the global trade union movement’s We Expect Better campaign calling on Deutsche Telekom to respect international labour standards for all their employees wherever they work.

The global labour movement is calling on the German government, which is a major shareholder in Deutsche Telekom, to ensure that the company respects the rights of its workers in the United States by implementing a policy in which management agrees not to oppose the organizing efforts of T-Mobile USA workers and allows workers the freedom to participate in union activities without fear of reprisals or job loss.



UNI affiliates in Argentina, Bulgaria, Canada, El Salvador, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States and other countries met German Embassy officials in their country or wrote letters to raise awareness of management’s anti-union behaviour at T-Mobile USA, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom.



In the US, 175 people held a demonstration in front of the German Embassy in Washington, D.C. before presenting a letter to the Ambassador to an embassy official.



UNI Global Union, ver.di and the Communications Workers of America (CWA), are working alongside the International Trade Union Confederation, the AFL-CIO of the United States, and the DGB of Germany to support the fundamental labour rights of workers employed at Deutsche Telekom and DT-owned subsidiaries around the world.
