The Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) said in a joint statement that their members will go back to work on Tuesday, Aug. 23.



“We have reached agreement with Verizon on how bargaining will proceed and how it will be restructured,” the unions said. “The major issues remain to be discussed, but overall, issues now are focused and narrowed.”



UNI salutes the strikers, who showed tremendous unity and strength standing up for the US middle class and for bargaining rights. The strike, the biggest in the US in four years, was widely supported across the US as well as by the global trade union movement.
