The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) is concerned about this continued attack on workers as Bell continues to decimate communities and move jobs out of the reach of our members.



“This current Bell Canada announcement affects approximately 52 of our members and their families” says Barb Dolan, CEP Administrative Vice President, Ontario Region.



“We continue to see companies, such as Bell Canada, willing to move work anywhere including out of the country to protect their bottom line. It is time that the Canadian government take responsibility and act on behalf of workers and not corporations."



The work consolidation affects offices in Toronto, Scarborough and Ottawa in Ontario.



“We see an increase in the willingness of Canadian companies to move work out of province and offshore as union busting and destroying the rights of Canadian workers little by little. All levels of government need to do something about the leakage of Canadian jobs in the telecommunications sector and beyond, if governments acted we may just start seeing a turn around in the Canadian economy”, says Dolan.
