Trade unions and the pensioners' association protested against the government's price policy and for an increase to the minimum wage in Vilnius last Saturday.



Some of the demands of protesting trade unionists submitted to the Government, the Parliament and the President are:

- to increase the minimum wage (to 300 Euros; now it is around 250 Euros);

- to encourage employment and creation of new work places;

- to introduce the progressive tax;

- to make amendments to the labour legislation only after it is agreed between the unions and the employers' organisations;

- to ratify ILO C. 102 Social Security (Minimum Standards) Convention;

- to ensure the right to strike;

- to prevent harassment of employees' representatives.
