The Ministry of Women, union activists in Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) in Spain, together with regional union federations and other county unions - like many other unions across the world - organized a series of events to mark International Women's Day, commemorated each year on March 8.



To underscore the importance of women in the Labor Movement, on International Women’s Day, the UNI Equal Opportunities Sector launched its campaign “That’s why!” (www.uni-iwd.org). This campaign seeks to increase the visibility of women who are making history to improve lives everyday in countless communities, in countless countries and in countless ways.



Day in and day out, thousands of women workers are active in the fight to improve our societies, to make them fairer and more equal. More often than not, these are anonymous women whose motivation is to seek positive outcomes for others not personal recognition for themselves. These brave, generous and enterprising women are our mothers, daughters, grandmothers and sisters. These are women who fight for a better life and a better world and who know that change begins at home with each one of us. They know they can rely on themselves and each other to lead the change to a better world.



Because you are not alone! Because you can inspire others! That’s why this campaign exists.
