UNI Europa training for EWCs in the ICT sector



In order to promote well functioning and well unionised EWCs as a platform to anticipate and deal with changes in companies together, UNI Europa supports the creation of a strong network of EWC coordinators. In order to build out such a network in the ICTS sector, EWC representatives from several companies such as Kodak, Tieto and IBM, have met last week during a training seminar for future EWC coordinators in Budapest.



The event was part of a EU funded project jointly organised by the Belgian trade union LBC-NVK and UNI Europa. During the seminar, EWC members from 8 different companies and 11 countries learnt about the impact of the new EWC directive on existing company agreements and improved their knowledge about the legal framework in the EU. Working groups on intercultural communication and information on industrial relations in Europe were further aspects of the training. Moreover, participants were given an opportunity to share their concrete experiences with EWC work, to discuss existing company agreements in detail and to receive advice on the negotiation and content of EWC agreements.



The seminar was already the second training for EWC coordinators in the ICT sector, following the successful EWC event in Sesimbra/Portugal in December 2011.
