Representing the workers and UNI were: Alejandra Estoup from the Executive Committee and La Bancaria Argentina, André Luís Rodrigues, the Regional Director of UNI Finance, Carlos Cordeiro, the President of UNI Americas Finance from Contraf- CUT Brazil, and Mariel Iglesias, the Coordinator of HSBC in South America and from La Bancaria in Argentina. At the meeting, the UNI representatives delivered a letter outlining the problems with HSBC in South America.



They discussed the situation of the workers, in particular the rumours that HSBC will be sold in South America and some specific issues in Colombia and Paraguay. HSBC said that they will grow in Argentina, Brazil, México and Panamá and they are working to grow in other countries. They also said that they will solve the problems in Paraguay and Colombia, with Labor Day and an antiunionnizing action against a union leadership in Cali, Colombia.
