The contest was open to all UNI affiliates, who were asked to send in photos of their members on the job and/or engaged in union activities.



The picture is of Lucia Fay (left) and her colleague Barbara Molas taking part in a protest outside of the Irish Parliament to mark the International Justice Day for Cleaners on 15 June 2011. Both workers are employed by the Resource Group. Lucia is a worker leader who has played a key role in the Fair Deal for Cleaners Campaign which led to the establishment of a new Registered Employment Agreement covering all contract cleaners working in the Irish Republic as and from 3 February 2012.



UNI presented a small prize to Paul Gavan, SIPTU communications organiser, at the Communicators Forum in Nyon last week. A framed poster-sized print will be sent to Paul for the SIPTU office and another will be put in the UNI office.



UNI plans to use the photo, and others entered in the contest, in future communications materials.
