For the second time this year workers from MPS have been forced to take strike action to raise their concerns over management plans which adversely effect the workforce. The strike action took place on Friday 27 July.

After this first day of strike, senior management agreed to have a consultation meeting with the unions and the second day of strike was postponed until further notice.

A new meeting is taking place today (13th of August) to further develop a better plan for the company and its employees.



On March 16^th over 4 thousand workers went on the streets of Siena to protest against a litany of unacceptable decisions by senior management. It was a reaction to the business plan for 2012-15 presented by CEO Fabrizio Viola and President Alessandro Profumo which included 4,600 redundancies, cuts on supplementary contract, the outsourcing of back offfice services and the closure of 400 branches.



The unions called for strike action after a meeting in Siena with FABI General Secretary, Lando Maria Sileoni.



Sileoni said "The MPS business plan does not respecting social dialogue and takes a short term perspective as a response to the European financial crisis.

Sileoni has invited MPS President Alessandro Profumo to slash his own salary and cut out his other benefits for the next three years", as a measure to help alleviate MPS's dramatic financial situation.
