Norway Post and PostNord, the mother company of the Danish and Swedish post offices, each announced acquisitions of smaller logistics firms this week.



Norway Post has announced on Wednesday that it has purchased a Swedish logistics company called Ekdahls Akeri. The company currently has a workforce of around 500 and focuses mainly domestic transport services within Sweden. The move is part of a longer strategic trend Norway Post has undertaken to buy firms to improve its competitive position in the region.



PostNord announced it has acquired a Norwegian logistics company called Harlem Transport AS. Harlem currently employs about 200 people in Norway and is specialised in commercial shipping and waste management there. PostNord has also expanded in the region via acquisitions and currently operates in Sweden, Finland Norway and Denmark through its logistics arm.
