TeliaSonera`s 2,000 salaried employees in Findland have gone on a two day strike over the company`s demand for further job cuts and continued outsourcing of work. The strike includes the company`s subsidiaries Datainfo and Sergel.
All customer service is shut down during the strike.
In addition, the salaried employees of Manpower Business Solution, GoExcellent Findland North and Teleperformance who are involved in activities concerning TeliaSonera have also gone out on strike.
The reason for the strike is TeliaSonera's intolerable personnel policy that continuously targets job reductions. Almost 500 salaried employees have been given notice to date. People have also been forced to change their jobs within the company
and/or compelled to re-apply for their own jobs. The company has subcontracted out a lot of work to private labour agencies and outsourced to foreign countries. In addition, the management continuously nit-picks over rights guaranteed to employees in the collective agreement.
Now the salaried workforce has had enough and wants TeliaSonera to make a credible presentation on the company's future and to put a stop to efforts to maximize profits by cutting back on the workforce. Continuous mandatory consultations, which invariably end in staff cutbacks is not the way forward or the right recipe for improved profitability, for growth or success in the markets. Moreover, these mandatory consultations only serve to make the company more and more wretched, and threaten well-being at work and the health of all employees.
Salaried employees of TeliaSonera and its subsidiaries and subcontractors are rank and file members of the salaried employees' trade union Pro. The Pro Board fully supports the strike.
