The second UNI-LCJ Graphical meeting took place at Odawara plant of National Printing Office on 9 February 2013. 13 people from various graphical unions gathered and took part in the meeting. At first, the meeting started with the tour of the plant. The Odawara plant is around 84 km away from Tokyo and occupied the land of 305,000m². Participants were surprised to look at the scale of the plant with research institute and apartments of employees. This factory has produced paper note since 1936. Around 911 people are working there. Bro. Takei, Chairperson of UNI-LCJ Graphical and President of Zeninsatsu, invited all participants to the plant tour.

It is interesting to look at the process from making paper to banknotes. Especially, National Printing Bureau pays a special attention to hologram application and count the number of printed bank notes. Workers didn’t meet any occupational accident for a long time, because the automation is arranged by various safety measures.

The meeting of UNI-LCJ Graphical discussed the feature of UNI Apro Graphical Conference, which will be planned at 30 August and 1 September. It was agreed that Japanese graphical workers should attend the Conference as many as possible.
