The trade union, the General Management of UCBI (BNP PARIBAS Group) and the Federation of Banks and Financial Establishments of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT-FGBEF) signed an agreement on 22 May 2013 which is considered to be a good compromise. As a result of this agreement, the trade union side felt able to call off the strike called for 23 May.



The General Management and social partners welcome the agreement which addresses all the outstanding issues. Both sides undertook to pursue their dialogue with a view to contributing to the sustainable development of the bank.



Here are some of the most important aspects of the agreement:



1. The general management pledges to respect trade union rights and to involve the union in all social and work-related issues that affect employees, in accordance with current legislation.



2. The agreements establishes procedures for the payment of premiums and bonuses and for relations with service providers.



3. The general management has already embarked on an external audit of the bank’s accounts and the findings are to be communicated to the bank’s social partners.



4. The agreement regulates equal opportunities for promotion to management positions and establishes procedures for dealing with disputes arising from promotion of senior managers.
