The Regional Secretary of UNI Africa, Mr Zakari Koudougou opened this 17 June 2013, the training seminar on "Youth UNI Africa on the Move to take its place in strong and democratic unions".
Organized in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), the seminar was attended by 23 young people from seven countries in West Africa including Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire.
The main purpose of this activity which is part of UNI Africa strategic priorities is to allow young workers to boost the long-awaited union renewal for the creation of strong, democratic, independent and credible unions. To enable Youth to take their rightful place in the union will be an added value for the renewal that the African trade union movement should advocate for in a continent where 60% of the population is young. The time has therefore come to build awareness among young people, so that they can play a key role in the African continent that must rise up and break through to a balanced distribution of wealth among all the people.
