As part of the #16daysofactivism activities carried out by our affiliated unions, our affiliates from the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association (SDA) in Australia, are currently running a campaign calling on the government and opposition parties to legislate paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave (We Won’t Wait Campaign). 

As part of the campaign the SDA chose the 30 November to launch the campaign and since then, it has been actively sharing social media posts, including a video and photos of SDA officials and delegates actively participating in the campaign.

Since its launch, the campaign has gained traction with most state governments in support and the two major opposition parties nationally; including one party that introduced a bill in parliament last week to legislate for 10 days paid leave
