On March 8, current and past officers from the Federation of Non-Life Insurance Workers' Unions of Japan (FNIU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee together with more than 250 guests, UNI-LCJ leaders and other union representatives, employers, regulators and Ministry officials.
FNIU was first established in 1967 with 12,000 members. The membership has since grown to more than 92,000 from amongst 21 affiliates today. FNIU was first affiliated with the former Apro FIET in 1981. It has been actively involved in the work of Finance sector in the region and a number of its Presidents have been elected as President of UNI Apro Finance since 2002.

President Miyai in his keynote address stated that: "We see rapid changes in the environment surrounding non-life insurance sector and society in general, such as decreased population with the super declining birth rate and aging population, globalization, digitalization, and climate change induced increase in risks of natural disasters. Under such circumstances, trade unions today need to have both global and local perspectives."
He added: "Union activities are to protect members and their families’ smiles". President Miyai urged everyone to remember that the non-life insurance industry's mission is to support the safety and security for society and customers and even with the advent of AI or advanced technology, only human beings can deliver a sense of safety with a great smile.
The former President Ishikawa also made a speech on behalf of previous Presidents of FNIU.
