The European project on risk assessment (Oira II) held its final conference in Athens last week on 15-16 June. The European social partners in the Live Performance Sector have been working since 2013 on building two risk assessment tools for the use of small and medium sized companies in the sector.

The final conference highlighted the finalised tools (click on link to access), one of which is geared towards venues and the other one towards productions, and introduced their use and benefits. Take a look ath the video introducing the tool. 

Participants also got to test the tools in practice in a guided test session. Panels discussed the various risks that the different professions in the sector are facing as well as the power of prevention. 

These two tools being European tools, the hope of the European social partners is that national social partners take the tools and translate them into national context and legislation. To this end the conference participants heard an example from France where a national tool is in use, as well as from Belgium where the social partners are about to start the process for creating a national tool.

The European social partners in the Live Performance sector will continue to review and update the tools when needed, as well as to provide guidance to national social partners who wish to launch a national tool in their country.
