Militant action is taking place in the Med paper factory for paper processing in Morocco. Almost 130 workers began a sit-in protest against the arbitrary measures taken against them by their employer. When the employer learnt that workers founded a trade union to defend themselves, he quickly dismissed union members. By solidarity with their comrades, the rest of the workers went on strike to protest against this arbitrary and abusive measure. Thanks to its relations with public authorities, the employer then dismissed all workers. They therefore started a long-term militant action which resulted in a sit-in outside the headquarters of the factory where they are night and day.

A vast movement of solidarity with them has emerged throughout Morocco, led by unions and workers of other sectors. UMT has taken the lead and initiated several contacts with the ruling circles of the country to find a solution. It continues to support workers by providing them with the necessary supplies. Taking advantage of its stay in Morocco, a delegation of UNI Global Union visited the scene of the sit-in where they met with activists and expressed their moral and material support and solidarity from UNI unionists and workers around the world. The delegation provided the militants with tea and coffee, which was greatly appreciated.
