New Action Plans under the new UNI-LCJ leadership

The 16th Annual General Meeting of UNI-Liaison Council Japan (UNI-LCJapan) was successfully held on January 20, 2015, attended by more than 80 delegates from UNI affiliates in Japan.
In the report on activities for 2014, Bro. Ito, the Executive Secretary highlighted and commended remarkable achievements under the strong leadership by Bro. Aihara, the Chairperson. To name but a few, signing of Global Framework Agreement with a Japanese giant retailer Aeon, sending a big delegation with 40% women to Cape Town and active participation in the UNI World Congress and Women’s Conference in spite of the last-minute snap election and affiliation of Japan Professional Baseball Players Association to the newly-established UNI World Athlete.
The AGM delegates also adopted the 2015 – 2018 UNI-LCJ Action Plans including its own projects in line with UNI and UNI Apro’s Breaking Through strategies. The four main pillars include achieving 1.1 million memberships, promoting partnership labor-management relations and more GFAs, assisting national liaison councils in Asia and integration of more women and youth.
Finally in the election of new UNI-LCJ Management Committee, Bro. Aihara stepped down Chairpersonship and Bro. Omata, President of JPGU has been newly-elected. Bro. Hachino, Vice President of UA Zensen resigned UNI-LCJ Vice Chairperson and Bro. Gunji, General Secretary of JAW has joined as a new Vice Chairperson. Bro. Ito retired after more than 14 year dedication since the establishment of UNI-LCJ in 2000 and the position of Executive Secretary has been succeeded by Sis. Ogawa. He will continue to assist UNI-LCJ as a Coordinator for one year, focusing on organizing in the transitional period.
Bro. Aihara sent hearty cheers to Bro. Omata and his new Management Committee to keep up good momentum for more breakthroughs. Bro. Omata appreciated outgoing leaders for their great contributions to UNI and UNI-LCJ and committed to work hard together with everyone to achieve the new Action Plans.
