Thirteen union affiliates of UNI Finance met in Turin on February 25th 2014 to develop the strategy and action plan for the UniCredit Trade Union Alliance, to improve the rights and working conditions of the UniCredit employees. The event was covered by key media channels (TV, press) in Italy.

The Trade Union Alliance is strengthening the cooperation between unions both at the European and global levels by sharing information and implementing collective actions with the support and coordination of UNI Finance.

The main objectives of the alliance are to facilitate social dialogue with UniCredit management, increase union membership density and achieve collective agreements at the national and international levels which can raise labour standards for employees in all UniCredit branches and subsidiaries.

The alliance is the best way of developing a strong international solidarity movement which can counter-balance the power of multinational companies throughout the world.

The next step will be to finalize the global framework agreement with UniCredit management.

The Trade Union Alliance also expressed serious concerns about the recent announcement by UniCredit Bank AG management to close approximately 50% of its branches in Germany with the anticipated impact on job loss.
