 THE UNI-Africa Executive Committee has adopted a new vision and strategies for the region that were developed by the regional management committee in February this year.

The vision states that: "UNI-Africa belongs to UNI Global family & promotes the interests of affiliates through building strong unions, decent jobs, justice, equality, democracy and peace."

To achieve the above vision, UNI-Africa will seek to:

1. Organise workers in MNEs wherever they operate in Africa

2. Build strong & democratic unions

3. Promote gender balance

4. Promote visibility of UNI-Africa at national, regional & global level

5. Be recognised by regional bodies to influence policies

6. Build alliances with progressive CSOs.

Among the strategies that UNI Africa will be implementing include: running common sectoral campaigns, strengthening income from the region, enhancing the role of Executive Committee members and restructuring of the region.

The 2nd UNI-Africa Regional Conference scheduled for Nairobi in August 2008 is expected to debate this vision and strategies as part of the UNI-Africa facing its future project 2006 – 2012.
