The year has started with a concrete plan of action for the commerce sector in the Americas. The idea is to optimise the available UNI resources for the region and to prepare our affiliates to confront the current crisis.



March 16 and 17 in São Paulo a working group will be meeting with the regional director and head of commerce sector to identify the priorities and the strategy to be adopted in the region.



The issues that must be considered will be the Second Regional Commerce Conference and the development of the projects on the sector in a productive way. The projects that will be discussed are the cooperation between South American unions and Spain’s CCOO with COLPE in Colombia and Peru.



The working group will also discuss the strategy to be adopted in Peru after the creation of the union for the workers in Ripley Store and how UNI can help the current negotiations. At the beginning of March a meeting will be held with the support of ILO to improve the capacity of the union representatives in Peru.
