"UNI europa has a specific role to play to influence the EU and secure the finance sector. It must use it fully and commit to the European Trade Union Confederation campaign and demonstrations for employment and against wage and social dumping.



The economic crisis must be dealt with immediately and workers should not not be the one paying for a crisis they have not created: a number of economic and social protection measures are necessary; investment in green jobs and social protection measures are indispensable. UNI europa must go for a green new deal and a social contract for Europe".



These are the key conclusions of the UNI europa Management Committee gathered in Brussels on 4th March 2009.



The Committee discussed suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of European Works Council operation in UNI europa sectors. It will propose to the next Executive Committee (Brussels, 2nd and 3rd June 2009) to make the decision that UNI europa's objective should be to reach a 40% gender balanced representation in all its decision making bodies. A proposal to reach this aim will be made accordingly.



The Management Committee agreed on a draft agenda for the next Executive Committee and dealt with UNI europa financial situation.



The next meeting of the Management Committee, chaired by its President, Frank Bsirske, also heard and welcomed a comprehensive report on activities carried by the UNI europa Regional Secretary, Bernadette Ségol
