![]() The story begins from the UNI Communicators' Forum in June 2007 in Singapore. Bro. Erdensaikhan participated on behalf of the Mongolia Liaison Council (UNI-LCM) and was very impressed and inspired by the Forum, having made many friends from the world. Among them was Bro. Prithvi, from UNITES Professional India. After this Forum, he came to think that IT can be used effectively for networking and mobilizing more young people who are indifferent about trade unionism in Mongolia and held a vision to set up a place to provide IT and language skills to union members. He is really a person who can put action into plan. After he returned to Mongolia, he organized an IT training course for union communicators at a small internet cafe. On January 2008, he succeeded to obtain a sponsorship from the Government and launched a "One Laptop for One Child" project to contribute to the social development of Mongolia - a project which meets the National Policy of Mongolia. When Bro. Sakurada, Chairperson of UNI Liaison Council Japan (UNI-LCJ) visited Mongolia to attend the Annual General Meeting in February 2008, he was very touched by Erdensaikhan's idea and shared his strong passion to set up such an IT and language training center for union members and hence promised to support for achieving his idea. UNI-LCJ then started donation campaigns for one year and many people supported and contributed to this. Prithvi, President of UNITES Professionals India also arranged to ship five "new" old computers which Indian IT companies are replacing. On May 17, 2009 with the presence of Bro. Takaaki Sakurada and Sis. Yoko Ogawa from UNI-LCJ, Bro. Ganbaatar Sainkhuu, President of CMTU and representatives fom UNI affiliates in Mongolia, the opening ceremony was held in the Center. Bro. Tsyen Oidov, President of UNI-LCM adressed in the opening remarks that the launch of this Center brings both countries' Liaison Councils to enter into a new stage after the ten years of friendship and cooperation between Mongolia and Japan. Bro. Sakurada expressed his happiness and honor to be able to witness this great moment with his Mongolian friends and commended the hard-working effort and team work by the young initiators. Erdensaikhan says "I want to use it for trade union purposes and serve as a contribution to civil society. IT and foreign languages are just our weapons. We need more weapons such as public speaking skills... We need more active and skillful people. Our centre will be their meeting place!" This is the fruit of a strong commitment and dedication, solidarity among Mongolia, Japan and India. We wish every success of the Center and pledge continuous support as UNI Global Union members.
