In the same week that France Telecom / Orange has launched a Pan-African branding campaign, France Telecom Alliance unions met in Bamako. On 22 May 2009, unions discussed recent breakdowns in labour relations, especially in the Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Senegal and Guinea Conakry - some of the same countries where the company is planning to run its marketing campaign.



The Alliance resolved to take action to advance the interests of workers within the France Telecom / Orange group by re-establishing labour relations based on mutual respect and recognition of trade union rights throughout the group and by all France Telecom subsidiaries. Unions will also push for strict adherence to national laws and regulations, as well as international conventions on labour rights, to achieve a more equitable distribution of the profits created by the company.
