CHICAGO--R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NASDAQ: RRD) announced today that it has expanded its European service capabilities with the opening of a new facility in Debrecen, in Eastern Hungary.
“This new facility will enhance our ability to work collaboratively with our customers as we provide integrated communications products and services,” said John Paloian, RR Donnelley’s Chief Operating Officer. “Designed to maximize efficiency, the facility supports a wide variety of our sustainability initiatives, reflecting RR Donnelley’s twin commitments to operating excellence and good corporate citizenship.”
Positioned to support the pan-European needs of technology, telecom, healthcare, pharmaceutical, consumer products and other customers, the facility provides state-of-the-art print and logistics services as part of the company’s total solutions platform.
Udo Herrmann, RR Donnelley’s Managing Director for Print Solutions in Europe stated, “The facility’s central location offers our customers the ability to reduce cycle times and logistics costs as they in turn serve their European audiences. Our expanded fulfillment capabilities provide quick response service as customers draw on RR Donnelley for in-box materials, marketing documents and other services that span the breadth of the communications supply chain.”
According to Michael Manzella, RR Donnelley’s Chief Sustainability Officer, “We do not believe that good sustainability practices force a choice between improved environmental outcomes and operating efficiency. The best practices integrate the two. For example, in this facility we use solar energy for electrical generation and to heat water. We collect rainwater for non-potable use. As we reduce, reuse and recycle we help to contain costs, emissions and solid wastes. That is good for our customers, employees and communities.”
