CONLATINGRAF and UNI GRAPHICAL Americas are ready to develop a joint approach on Health and Safety and Climate change. During the Annual meeting of Conlatingraf (Graphical and Packaging Employers Association in Latin America) UNI Graphical Americas put forward a proposal based on two main points: 1. The development of a common position amongst unions and employers concerning the environmental sustainability for the printing and packaging industries. As Leonardo del Roy, President of UNI G Americas stated, “We must define a policy of mutual engagement regarding climate change, to support a green industry and to be able to develop awareness that paper is a renewable resource, whose production generates hundreds of thousands of jobs” 2. A common approach on health and safety, through the development of a module applicable in all the region, and the implementation by the Unions of these modules through conferences, workshops and joint seminars at the level of the plants and facilities of the companies. . Jose Luis Zamora, President of Conlatingraf stated that “In our view this is a smart proposal, because the climate change and the environmental issues are strategic questions for our industry, both for employers and trade unions”. “Health and safety is also a common issue, because we are speaking about the life of the people and the future of the companies”, Zamora underlined. He then asked the employers for a vote by a show of hands which was endorsed. A Joint Committee will meet to work on both proposals. The Union delegation was invited to participate in the dinner celebrating the 90 Anniversaries of AGUDI (Peruvian Association of Media).
