While top bank managers around the world continue to receive huge bonuses, despite the fact that they orchestrated the global financial crisis, HSBC refuses to consider a decent pay rise for workers in its Korean Branches. Bank workers deserve a decent wage rise. HSBC Korea is not bargaining in good faith with the union and its workers. Bargaining began in June 2009 and they have not met with the union since 7 January 2010. The national labour office called the bank to compulsory meetings with the union last week. These were not successful. The Korean finance workers union KFCLU needs your help to convince HSBC to bargain in good faith and deliver a decent wage rise. The KFCLU and its members from HSBC Korea voted to strike last week in an effort to bring the company to the bargaining table. Reports have surfaced alleging that management has called in retired bank workers and workers from Hong Kong to replace the striking workers. This action is illegal in Korea.
