Dear Sir,
We turn to you because several of our shop stewards and elected officials have complained to us about the actions of your representatives.
It is inadmissible for your subordinates to use unacceptable language and verbal aggression, or to pressurize or place obstacles in the way of our shop stewards and elected officials.
We have also learned that the IKEA France management actually lied to the Swedish shop stewards by telling them that their French colleagues had held a pregnant woman hostage. This is a blatant lie and you know it. Had this really been the case, you would undoubtedly have taken measures to free her, for had you not, you would have been guilty of failure to assist a person in danger.
Your managerial staff persists in doling out lies to the press, our shop stewards and the staff, and does it so often that we are tempted to believe that this must be company policy. The whole purpose of this is to discredit our shop stewards. These range from threats to close down the Franconville store, to accusations of willful damage to company property and even to assaults committed on managerial staff. This is a pack of lies designed to bring into disrepute those employees who are on strike as well as the shop stewards who defend the interests of the staff they represent.
It is not by acting in such a manner that you will project a good social image of IKEA. Your stubbornness and your bad faith have tarnished your image in the mind of French citizens over the last few weeks. Negotiations should be conducted in a fair atmosphere, but the actions of your subordinates have achieved the opposite.
We ask you to ensure that such actions are stopped as quickly as possible. Should this not be done, we will take the appropriate legal steps.
Yours truly
Françoise Nicoletta
