The e-skills week is an initiative of the European Commission’s directorate general for enterprise and industry.

As the manifesto points out, US-owned multinational companies are on average 8.5 per cent more productive than UK based firms, and much of the difference is down to UK's lower investment in IT, and UK's lack of IT skills according to IT pro's Stephen Pritchard.
