International Cooperation for Work, Health and Environment

 Buenos Aires. In the framework of the collaboration agreement subscribed between UNI americas and the Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina (SAyDS), members of the Argentine Young Workers Network of UNI americas, participated in a journey aimed at exploring alternatives for cooperation as regards training, education, scientific research and technical assistance for workers.



The meeting was headed by the Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development, Homero M. Bibiloni. The Director of the National School of Occupational Medicine of the Spanish Institute of Cooperation Carlos III, Jerónimo Maqueda, the Secretary of Occupational Health and Environment of the CGT (General Central of Workers), Viviana Córdoba, and Dr. Myrna Marti in representation of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) attended the meeting.



The schemes of work for the fulfilment of an action plan which shall include the realisation of research activities in relation to occupational health for the services’ sector; the generation and availability of the necessary resources for the organisation and execution of sectoral training; and the promotion of long-lasting abilities for workers, were agreed during this meeting.



This action plan, which shall be centralised and coordinated by PAHO, will be supported by empiric research carried out by the Spanish Institute Carlos III with the collaboration of the Argentine Young Workers Network, and will be jointly monitored by the SAyDS , the Argentine Ministry of Health and UNI americas.
