UNI europa Post & Logistics Vice President Ingeborg Saetre from Norway, represented UNI Global Union at the UPU Strategy Conference being held in Kenya late September. Along wuith José Oliveira from, SNTCT Posrtugal, Ingeborg attended the conference and made an intervention during the forum held on the last day of the conference where the discussion focussed on the changes taking place in the postal industry.



Ingeborg told the delegates that workers were not afraid of the changes taking place in the industry but wanted to be consulted and have discussion about how to make those changes easier and how to ensure that change meant they were able to retain decent jobs. She told the conference that; "Workers know there are new types of jobs coming along, they know postal companies want greater flexibility and different types of work, they know you want to introduce new services and new technology. But they want the skills to deal with this, they also want diversity in their work, they want to have quality jobs, and most importantly they want a good secure job with a caring employer where they can contribute to their own destiny."
