GLOBAL ACTION WEEK - COSTA RICA



FOR RESPECT AND SOLIDARITY



The UNI Post & Logistics affiliate in Costa Rica, SITET joined the Global Week of Action of UNI and ITF with a first information and solidarity day for DHL workers in Costa Rica, whose labour rights and benefits have been systematically violated .



On 7 October 2010, flyers have been distributed in front of a major DHL location, providing information on how vital it is to be aware of and to defend one’s labour rights and defining Conventions or collective agreements as an important achievement in the advancement and consolidation of union organising.



Workers have been very receptive to the information provided and used the opportunity to comment on the disrespect for their working conditions by DHL in Costa Rica, and expressing the need to promote complaints through organising workers.



There will be more information and awareness raising activities for DHL workers until end October.
