Swiss bank UBS releases excruciating detail on how staff should dress, smell and smile, while workers in the Finance industry are still calling out for real solutions to the Financial Crisis. Staff are suffering under pressure to meet sales targets instead of being supported to give responsible financial advice. UNI Finance Global Union is campaigning for staff protection.
Two years after the global financial crisis and we have still not seen the necessary changes to regulation, supervision, diversity of the industry and remuneration to protect workers and the entire financial industry from further collapse.
“For a Global bank to waste this much time and effort on matters of staff uniform is a total embarrassment. It’s an insult to the hard working staff that have much greater concerns for their customers, such as the right and ability to give them responsible financial advice. If you ask bank customers, I am sure they would say they would prefer workers confident and trained to give appropriate financial advice, rather than a staff member who is worried about the garlic they ate for lunch or if they wore the right underwear!” says Oliver Roethig Head of UNI Finance Global union. UNI Finance is the largest representative of Finance workers in the world.
UBS is one of the banks which was hit by the crisis and one would expect a more relevant focus on banking practice, rather than staff appearance.
UNI Finance and UNI Equal Opportunities support bank workers by demanding real solutions to the global financial crisis.
