The conference took place within the framework of a project funded by the European Union, which marked the beginning of a new kind of cooperation between the two sectors of UNI europa.



The conference was titled Promoting cooperation in multimedia multinationals, and it focused on a few selected multinational companies. It brought together some 65 representatives from 15 European countries, both employees of the multinational companies as well as trade union officials working on issues concerning these companies.



The theme of the conference was European Works Councils, whether an EWC has been established in these companies or their subsidiaries and how well the established EWCs are functioning. The participants of the conference exchanged on the current situation of the companies as well as on best practises when negotiating an EWC agreement and working as a member of an EWC.



At the end of the three days the conference adopted a resolution strengthening the cross-sectoral cooperation between UNI europa Graphical and EURO-MEI on the issue of multinational multimedia companies. The resolution can be found at the top of this article in French and English.
