Cathrine Ertsaas, a young postal worker from Postkom in Norway, made a presentation on maintaining good jobs in the postal sector for youth to participants at a Universal Postal Union (UPU) social forum. She emphasized that maintaining quality employment is key for countries to weather the financial and economic crisis.



She also stressed that solutions need to be found to make the work more feasible with new postal technologies that have upped the number of hours letter carriers spend delivering mail.



UNI Post & Logistics stressed that social dialogue and social regulation in the postal sector become even more important given the challenges facing the postal industry. UNI called on postal operators to choose the path of innovation rather than austerity.
