The Norwegian Parliament has put a definitive end to the bank at the post office, established in 1950, which will have an impact on employment. The Post's suggestion that there should only be 30 post-run offices nationwide has been adopted by Parliament. The members of the post office network are facing a new major restructuring.



The banking regulatory duty is replaced by a scheme where services are only provided through the rural postal network. There, customers must pre-book banking services.



Postkom has had discussions with the Post emphasizing that there should be sufficient time and necessary measures to avoid redundancies. Restructuring should be carried out in a safe and predictable manner.



The Post this morning conducted staff meetings with the employees. In addition to the closure list being presented, workers were also given information about the reorganization of resources, management of human impacts, restructuring agreement / funding agreement and special effects.

There will be special emphasis on activities and initiatives that can help to obtain new employment, particularly in the external labor market. In the internal labor market, surplus staff will be given job offers when available.
