On Friday 8 June, the affiliated members of the UNI Europa Women’s Committee gathered in Brussels to discuss a full agenda. Were discussed issues such as:



• The Mentoring Program, to achieve a greater gender balance at UNI.

• The Arab Spring and the intensive work achieved by the colleagues of the Area 4 together with the new Tunisia UNI Women's network.

• The conclusions and recommendations from the Seminar about the Impact of the Financial Crisis on women’s work and the draft paper. The situation in the countries most affected by the crisis was discussed

• The report of the ETUC and the Day of the Equal Pay Day.

• Planning related to the Women's Conference to be held in September this year.



The meeting was attended by the Regional Secretary Oliver Roethig, who referred to the report of the regional situation. Oliver stressed the need to provide the basis and to achieve a strong unification of European countries to address the crisis that exists.



The committee will meet again in Luxembourg on September 27 this year, prior to the 4th UNI Europa Women’s Conference: "Women power = UNI power".
