UNI Africa affiliate in Cape Verde, SITTHUR and National Association of Journalists, AJOC leaded planned industrial action on 18 and 19 October 2012 of Media Personnel, TV Camera Operators, Technicians, Commercial Agents and Administrators, News Readers and relevant supporting staff - RTC, in the capital city of Praia to a two day STAY AWAY with the participation of 90% of the total work force from both Public Radio and Television Stations in the country.



The first impact of the stay away, is the removal of the company management team and the appointment of new Administration Council which is due to take office next week. Furthermore, the country Head of State and The Speaker of Parliament met with Workers Commission to get first hand information on the industrial action and have agreed to join the parliament audience which meets on the 23rd of October, where the Minister of Communications, Radio and Television Management and Workers Commission will address the parliament on the issue.
