29 Delegates from Cleaning Unions across Europe attended a 2 day conference funded by the ETUI in Brussels. The delegates were gathering to agree 2 activities - the promotion of the `Cleaners Charter`and the organizing of the European wide day of of action on 17 June International Justice Day

All unions agreed to use the Charter which will be launched amongst the workforce as part of the 17 June activities. The Charter asks Cleaning Contractors and their customers to agree some minimum rights for Cleaners to be included in the terms of commercial contracts, terms that would promote equal rights, fair pay, day time working and proper equipment and training. The Charter will shortly be sent to all major European clients and customers.

They also agreed to the organizing of activities on the 17 June in all major airports in Europe to raise the issues relating to cleaning work, those of low pay, limited hours, health and safety and temporary work.

The 17 June will be the launch of an organizing campaign to raise density in the Cleaning and Security Sector in Europe
