GUIDELINES FOR THE ORGANISATION OF THE EUROPEAN DAY OF ACTION
“RESPECT FOR CLEANERS” - 17 JUNE 2013
The aim of these guidelines is to:
· provide guidance to UNI affiliates in the cleaning sector that agreed to organise an Action Day on 17 June 2013 in major international airports in their respective countries on the issue of “Respect for cleaners” (for the list of airports please refer to the note on the outcomes of the third ISS meeting)
· agree on some common topics/features
· give a common framework to the European Action.
These Guidelines are the result of the discussion in the ISS network meeting held in Brussels on 6 and 7 February 2013 as well as in the subsequent meeting of the subgroup appointed by the ISS Network that met on 5 March in Brussels. The group agreed the following:
· A common logo
You will find enclosed to this document the common logo for the Day of Action. The Logo is the Yellow Glove used by UNI affiliate FNV Bongenoten. Each Union will be free to add a sentence in their language on the issue of “Respect for cleaners”. You can also add the date of the Action day, 17 June.
It is important that we all use the same logo! The logo will appear on the leaflets, t-shirts etc so that our Day of Action is a truly “European” one and that passengers/airport users/cleaners/airport authorities recognise that is a joint and transnational UNI coordinated action asking for “Respect for cleaners”.
· T-shirts
Each Trade Union organisation taking part in the Day of Action is encouraged to make a T-shirt with the logo of the Day of Action. If you are going to make a T-shirt, the subgroup agreed that the colour should be DARK PURPLE. On the back of the Shirt, the UNI Logo should appear.
· Leaflet
The leaflet should have the Union(s) logo. The Subgroup adopted the following sentence to which each Union can add its own message and tailor it to the specific national situation:
Dear traveller,
Today is the International Justice Day for Cleaners! All over the world Trade Union activists celebrate the day they started the campaign for justice and dignity for cleaners. Without cleaners you would travel in a dirty train or plane, you would not be able to use a toilet, surgeons wouldn’t be able to operate and the whole world would be one big mess. Do you appreciate their work? Give this flower to a cleaner at your destination and congratulate them: Happy Cleaners Day!
· Flower
Each union would make a flower to be given to passengers together with the leaflet.
The flower can be made of paper, of different colours, of many colours, shape etc, this is up to each Union/country to decide. Flowers should be given to passengers asking them to give it to a cleaner in the airport of destination.
This tutorial shows how to make a rose flower out of a paper. You can make 1 flower out of 1 paper: very beautiful, easy and simple flower to make
