Recruitment of a Policy Officer
UNI Europa is a European trade union federation for services and communication. UNI Europa has 320 affiliates and speaks for 7 million organised workers in the commerce, finance, telecommunication, postal, graphical, cleaning, security, business services, IT, hair and beauty, social protection, sport, media and entertainment sectors. Job description
The persons will be involved in planning and implementing sector activities both at European and International level. These include:
- Prepare and Implement campaigns directed at multinational companies, global institutions, governments, international governmental organisations and regulatory authorities including the EU;
- Prepare, implement and follow-up on European and global trade union development projects and other projects;
- Within the framework of the Media, Entertainment Arts sector regulatory work, assist decision making bodies and working groups to elaborate and advocate effectively positions on policy regulation in particular with regard to audiovisual, cultural, intellectual property rights and social policies;
- Coordinate and further develop EU social dialogue in the audiovisual sector with the employers organisations;
- Communicate and consult with affiliates and provide assistance to them as issues arise;
- Collect and disseminate information on issues relevant to the media, entertainment and arts sector including affiliates activities in the sector, multinational companies and regulation;
- Assist in the preparation, research, conduct and follow-up of conferences, meetings and projects.
- Assist to build, maintain and service accurate and up to date databases, information newsletters.
- Assist to maintain and service accurate and up to date information relating to the department on the UNI web page.
- Liaise and work with the sister organisations such as the IFJ, FIA, FIM as well as with regional and international employers’ associations, multinational companies, UN agencies and other organisations, individuals and contractors.
The candidate selected will work under the authority of the UNI Europa Regional Secretary and will report to the Head of UNI MEI. He / she will coordinate with colleagues from other UNI offices worldwide.
Profile/main qualifications
The persons we are looking for must also have an understanding of trade union structures and share their aims and objectives in order to be able to represent and advocate the views of workers.
Candidates should have experience with the media and entertainment industries. Experience in policy work and campaigns as well as negotiations with employers’ organisations within the media and entertainment sector is an advantage.
Frequent travelling in Europe and to other continents will be necessary.
UNI Europa is looking for persons ready to work in a team and open to a multicultural environment.
Candidates must be fluent in English. Knowledge of Spanish and any other of the official languages is critical.
